The origin of Flamborough Hills Golf and Country Club goes back to 1961 when Jack and Ann Windsor shaped 18 Championship holes out of a dairy farm in the quiet hamlet of Copetown, Ontario. The Club opened for play under the name of Windsor Park and remained that way until a change of ownership in 1985 brought about the current name. In 1994, a third nine was created and was aptly named the Lakes course. The original 18 hole combination is now referred to as the Hills and Woods courses giving Flamborough Hills 27 Championship holes to challenge golfers of all skill levels.
August 2007 saw another change of ownership to Tom de Jonge. Tom is committed to keeping the course moving forward with a goal of making Flamborough Hills one of the premier golf facilities in southern Ontario.
Last year saw the beginning of this with the creation of a new hole on the Woods course. Woods #2, a Par 3 measuring 128 yards from the Championship tees and 90 yards from the women's tees, will become the signature hole at Flamborough Hills. From an elevated tee deck, this hole requires proper club selection as it is all carry over a water hazard to a narrow kidney shaped green.
This hole was created as part of Tom's plan to give the patrons of Flamborough Hills what they have been asking for - eliminating the three Par 3's in a row on the Woods course. This year will see the construction of another new hole on the Woods course to complete this part of his vision for Flamborough Hills. A long Par 4 with a tree lined fairway that doglegs slightly to the left as you approach the green will make any course combination at Flamborough Hills an exciting challenge. We hope you enjoy the challenge as much as we enjoyed creating it!
From the fully stocked pro shop and renowned Junior Golf Program under the direction of CPGA Head Professional Jeff Moore, to fine dining with Master Swiss Chef Toni Burch in the clubhouse, Flamborough Hills Golf and Country Club is a great place to be and we look forward to seeing you soon.
Birdies for Babies Charity Golf Tournament
For the fifteenth year in a row, the Birdies For Babies Charity Golf Tournament, in support of the Neo-Natal Intensive Care Unit at McMaster’s Children’s Hospital was held on Thursday August 26th, 2010.
The N-ICU has a special place in my heart as my son Zachery would not be alive today without the care he received immediately after birth. Only an experimental procedure saved his life and after six weeks in Intensive Care, he was pronounced healthy enough to go home.
